With the arrival of November we know that December is not far away and with that often comes the "hurry, scurry, frantic, worry" season. Believe me, I know. It's so easy to get caught up in the rush of the season that we totally miss the point. But before we get too far into it, let's take a fresh look at what lies ahead. First there's Thanksgiving. That's a national holiday set aside to give thanks to our sovereign God for His bountiful goodness to us as individuals and as a nation. Here's an idea. Let's tell God "thank you" for all He has done. "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good..." (Palms 107:1).
How about Christmas? There's another national holiday, set aside to remember the incarnation of a Holy God into a sinful world. "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us..." (John 1:14). Let that one sink in. God became a man, in order to offer us eternal life through His sacrifice for sin. Wow!
If we really stop and think about these two "holidays" and the significance of what they mean we will surely be changed. A thankful person is a humble person, not proud or self centered. Someone who really understands the true meaning of Christmas isn't looking for more gifts to receive, more lights, glitz or glitter, but is in absolute awe that God would love them so much. To truly celebrate Christmas is to worship the One who came into the world through a manger, traveled the way of the cross, and rose again proving that He really was and is God in the flesh.
Here at Agape we have several activities and services planned to help you in your thanksgiving and worship. Check out the calendar of events.
Return to Cricket County Christmas Dinner Theatre dates, Dec. 8-11 (free encore without dinner on Dec 14). Tickets go on sale Wednesday, Nov 5 at 8:00 am. Cost is $10.00 and $6.00 for children 10 and under.
God Bless!
