We are blessed here at Agape to have a very active senior adult group.  We call this the JOY Club, which is an acronym for Just Older Youth.  It is under the direction of our Minister of Music, Bro. Randy Sharpe.  We offer activities and ministries designed for adults 50 and older.  Bible Fellowship classes for this age group offers opportunities for weekly interaction and friendships.  These are small classes, designed to teach and encourage one another in God’s Word plus share the burdens of life with those who will sincerely love and care for one another. Besides these classes, we meet once a month for various activities and/or ministry events that target our more mature adults.  In the past we have had game nights, health fairs, a home safety fair, a financial estate planning class, fish fries, a senior adult revival, and various guest speakers and musicians.  We’ve gone on outings to the Helen Keller drama in Tuscumbia, a river boat cruise, a visit to the Aquarium in Chattanooga, picnics, and pontoon boat rides on the Tennessee River.

One of our “traditions” is to take a group to Gatlinburg for a senior adult conference called Jubilee.  The conference features some of the very best in Christian musicians (like George Beverly Shea, Gold City, Squire Parsons, Reba Rambo) and top conference speakers from across the nation (like Junior Hill, Johnny Hunt, David Jeremiah).  This conference is usually on Monday through Wednesday the last week of September.

The Crisis Ministry is a special ministry the JOY Club sponsors for families in times of bereavement or other times of crisis.  It is a way of quickly meeting some physical needs.  The crisis ministry provides an ice chest, paper supplies, a 30 cup coffee maker, etc. for families that will be temporarily hosting extended family and friends.

The JOY Club has provides refreshments, etc. for VBS, AWANA and other special children’s and youth events.  Our senior adults are very active in every area of our church.  We are blessed to have a great group that is so loving and ready to receive new people into the fellowship of believers here at Agape.
