Agape Baptist Church was begun in 1999 in Scottsboro, Alabama. A handful of people believed Scottsboro needed a new and energetic work that would do whatever it takes to reach people with the gospel of Christ. This small group of people met with Roger Mardis and discussed the idea of a church plant. Though reluctant at first, Mardis agreed and the rest as they say, is history.
Agape is a loving and gracious body that has/is enjoying the touch of God. From day one the church has maintained an amazing unity. We are indeed one.
Since her inception, the folks of Agape have been in five continents and in over 25 countries. We love our mission… and missions! Evangelism and Bible preaching are the heartbeat of our pastor, along with missions and ministry.
Agape is a Bible-believing congregation. In fact, we don’t just believe the Bible we want to live it. We believe in the sufficiency of Christ to save everyone who will believe and place their faith in the Lord Jesus. We also believe that ones life should evidence their salvation. Our pastor reminds us that Christians are to be salt and light. We are not just witnesses we are to be part of the evidence!
In 2005 Agape moved into her current location on Dick Hayes Road at Hwy 72. We own 27 acres and our desire is to fully develop this property with an athletic complex, ministry village, walking trail, amphitheater, and worship center. This vision will be seen and realized as needed and as funds become available.
Our journey… though not real long, has been amazing. We are leaned that there is joy in the journey. Why not consider coming along in this journey with us. ?
God is good… all the time!
